About Me

My name is Amy Hua. I would describe myself as a creative, technical, and aspiring entrepreneur. My goal is to live a dense life. In that pursuit, I have:

been an avid painter and a drawer from ages 4 through college.

founded a nonprofit and managed over 40 volunteers running a 16-room Victorian mansion on a daily basis.

couchsurfed across the country.

been a motorcyclist, scuba diver, and rock climber.

held 14 different jobs since I was 14.

I graduated from a Top 3 Undergraduate Math program at the the University of Chicago and earned a Mathematics B.S. before I became an analytics consultant for a Top 4 global management consulting giant. One day, I dropped it all, because I realized I wasn't doing what I really wanted.

What I really wanted to do was open my computer and code.

I moved to Seattle, WA to participate in an intensive study on web development through CodeFellows, where I realized my love for making products through code.

I'm now working on freelance work in between developing my own projects and searching for full-time work opportunities in the startup tech space.

My Work

Codelabs: Codelabs is designed for instructors teaching front-end web development to easily communicate and exchange lessons & assignments with their students. It features a built-in code editor, Markdown-driven discussion forums, and SMS/email alerts for instructors to receive help requests during class. Codelabs goes live in Mid-October 2013, where I will be teaching grade school students in South Seattle Web Design 101.

LivePlugin: LivePlugin is a map integrated application for locals to hear about the latest live events in their area. Currently under construction.

LDD: LDD is a virtual tournament platform, forums, and evidence exchange for local high school debaters. Currently under construction.

Runaway Fridge: Runaway Fridge was an idea for a reverse recipe search engine that searches by ingredients. Currently includes mock data and basic search engine functionality. This project lasted a week before being retired.

See what I am building on my GitHub.
